IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE MVR MANDATE:
Employers must maintain and keep for inspection a motor vehicle record (MVR) for each driver in their Driver Qualification file (DQ File). The carrier/employer must request each driver/employee's MVR every 12 months and must keep the record for 3 years. The carrier must review the motor vehicle records of drivers it employs to determine whether that driver meets minimum requirements for safe driving or is disqualified to drive a CMV (per C.F.R. 391.15).
Exemptions to MVR Mandate:
- Farm vehicle drivers of articulated commercial motor vehicle;
- Private motor carrier of passengers (not compensated / not-for-hire)
